Three mobile seismic stations will be installed at Bashkiria and Chelyabinsk region border

Three mobile seismic stations will be installed near the border of Bashkiria and the Chelyabinsk region in the territory of the South Ural Reserve. The equipment will measure the displacement of the earth's surface. The stations will operate for several days, Izvestia reports with reference to the Ural region monitoring sector at the Geophysics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It is also reported that the Institute's specialists went to the epicenter of the earthquake to study its pattern. Despite the strengthening of monitoring, scientists do not expect new shocks. Over the past day two earthquakes occurred in the Urals, experts called them moderate. There are no fatalities or serious damages.

An earthquake with a magnitude of about 5.5 occurred on the night of September 5 in the Katav-Ivanovo District of the Chelyabinsk Region. Then in the morning in 22 km from this place the second earthquake took place in the region of the Ural Mountains. Its magnitude was about 4.4.

Seismic activity of this kind is observed in the Urals region once in 100 years. No new shocks are expected, the center at the Russian Academy of Sciences reported.

The South Ural State Nature Reserve was established on June 1, 1979, with the aim of preserving the unique natural complexes of the Southern Urals - mountain taiga spruce-fir forests, high-mountainous plant complexes, and marshes. The reserve is located in the territory of two entities of the Russian Federation - the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Chelyabinsk region. The total area of the reserve is 252.8 thousand hectares. This is the largest reserve in terms of area in Bashkortostan and the entire Southern Urals.
