Fire detectors will be given at birth of children in Bashkiria

This was announced by the Prime Minister Rustem Mardanov at a meeting of the Government Presidium on August 14. In particular, he noted that in Bashkortostan, fire detectors will be given out free of charge to families at the birth of a child.

Before the fire detectors were given out free of charge to two categories of families: low-income families with many children and families with children being at social risk. Now all families will be entitled to this right at the time of the birth of a child. The new procedure extends to those born since January 1, 2018, the press service of the Government of the republic reports.

After a tragic fire in 2017 in the village of Uguzevo in the Birsk region, where nine people were killed, including five children, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov instructed to expand the categories of citizens entitled to receive fire detectors free of charge.

"As of 2018, 25 million rubles have been already allocated in the budget, that with an average cost of no more than 500 rubles per device will be enough to provide with them all families with newborns in the republic," said the Chairman of the State Committee for Emergency Situations Farit Gumerov. "At the same time, the fire detectors are provided only upon an application of the child's parents".

Total, today more than 41 thousand families in Bashkortostan have been provided with fire detectors for free. These measures affected a significant (from 15 in 2016 to two in 2018) reduction in the number of dead children in fires.
