21 members of terrorist cell were sentenced in Ufa
UFA, 31 July 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Twenty-one members of the "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami" terrorist cell banned in Russia since 2003 were sentenced in Ufa. This is reported by the federal media. The perpetrators were accused of organizing a terrorist group, participating in its activities, preparing for the seizure of power. According to the FSB Directorate for Bashkiria, the members of the Ufa cell "Hizb ut-Tahrir" set themselves a goal of creating an "Islamic caliphate" in the territory of our republic. The FSB investigators held detentions in February 2015.
20 people were sentenced to terms from 8 to 24 years of imprisonment in maximum security facilities with fines ranging from 400 thousand to 700 thousand rubles. One of the accused, who collaborated with the investigation, was sentenced to five years in prison in a standard regime penal colony and a fine of 100,000 rubles.
