New natural park will appear in Bashkiria

UFA, 27 June 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. In Bashkiria a new republican natural park "Zilim" is nearing completion. This was reported by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.

The head of the region noted that the project passed a state environmental review. The feasibility report for the natural monument was approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia.

A decision to create a natural park on the Zilim River near Kinderlinskaya cave was based on the fact that the territory with unique natural conditions was polluted because of unorganized tourism and interference in the ecosystem.

Rustem Khamitov also recalled that Bashkiria was the first region to submit an application to the UNESCO headquarters for the creation of the "Yangan-Tau" geological park.

Earlier it was reported that technically the geopark of the republican level of 1.8 thousand sq km was created in October 2017. The application for assigning the international status to the "Yangan-Tau" geological park will be considered this year.

"The republic pays much attention to ecological improvement of water objects, preservation of biological diversity, including through the creation of new specially protected natural areas," Rustem Khamitov underlined.
