Bashkortostan TV film crew went to Arctic following "Two Captains" route

UFA, 25 June 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The famous adventure novel by Veniamin Kaverin about the first Russian conquerors of the Arctic "Two Captains" marks the 80th anniversary this year. The novel survived more than a hundred publications. But few know that the real story and prototypes of the crew members of one of the first Russian arctic expeditions of the "Saint Anna" schooner lay at the heart of the book. One of them is the legendary navigator, a native of Ufa Valerian Albanov. The fate of the novel’s character Ivan Klimov echoes the true destiny of the "Saint Anna" navigator Valerian Albanov.
Our colleagues, the editor of the TV channel "Russia Culture of Bashkortostan" Aigul Kantukova and cameraman Oleg Menkov are now in the city of Murmansk. The creative crew will spend two weeks in the Arctic waters. A part of the material for a documentary about our countryman Valerian Albanov and the riddles of the "Saint Anna" schooner will be filmed on the "Shturman Albanov" tanker. The film crew will go to the open sea along the route of the "Saint Anna" schooner, which was ice-locked in the Kara Sea in the early 20th century.
