Rustem Khamitov laid flowers to Alexander Matrosov monument

UFA, 22 June 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov laid flowers to the monument of Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov in Lenin Park in Ufa.
"77 years ago, fascist Germany opened a war against the Soviet Union. And this day, June 22, the last years, was a day of Remembrance and Sorrow. Indeed, this war claimed tens of millions of lives. The price of Victory is very high. But in spite of all this our country, our people demonstrated courage, heroism and defended their homeland", said Rustem Khamitov. "Today we pay tribute to all those who fell on the field of battle, who returned home mutilated, wounded, those who worked at the home front, created all conditions for the Victory of 1945. We are sincerely grateful to the veterans, to those who endured the toils of the war, who did a lot for our common Victory".
The transfer of personal belongings and medallions of Red Army soldiers, natives of Bashkortostan Zinnat Valiullin and Pyotr Rasskazov who died on May 9, 1942, in the battle near the village of Staroye Ramushevo in the Novgorod region, was also held here.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, pupils of military-patriotic clubs, cadets, members of search teams, representatives of children's and youth public unions, together with the head of the republic, held a moment of silence in memory of all those who made the Victory closer at the expense of their lives.
