Rostourism recommends that Russian tourists planning to travel to India take into account the epidemiological situation and take preventive measures.
Chikungunya fever is a viral infection that is transmitted with bites of bloodsucking insects. Mainly the carriers of the disease are mosquitoes of two species Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which can also transmit other viruses, including dengue fever.
The main symptoms of the disease are a rise in temperature to 40 degrees, headaches, pain in the muscles and joints. In most cases, the disease does not lead to life-threatening complications, but it can pose a threat to the elderly and people with weakened immunity. There are no special antiviral drugs for the treatment of chikungunya fever.
