Scientists are on verge of creating drug to defeat cancer and aging

UFA, 3 May 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. Scientists will create cells invulnerable to cancer, aging, radiation, and viruses in the next 10 years. This was stated by geneticists from the Genome Project, Izvestia reports. Scientists came to such conclusions while making an experiment on a cell of the E. coli bacterium.

Genetics noted that the genome of this cell was changed 321 times, after which it became immune to viruses. Much more effort will be required to reprogram cells of a plant or a mammal.

"Reprogramming each protein in a human gene, for example, will require 400 thousand changes", the Stat portal quotes Harvard Medical School Professor George Church.

According to the scientist, out of 20 thousand genes of a human being, it is necessary to remove superfluous units of a genetic code (codons). And already in 10 years with genes reprogramming it will be possible to achieve that people cease to grow old, get cancer and are immune to cold and radiation.
