Bashkiria delegation left for France to discuss bilateral cooperation issues with UNESCO

On April 18, a delegation of Bashkortostan led by the Minister of Nature Management and Environment of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ildar Khadiyev left for France to discuss issues of further cooperation development between the republic and UNESCO.

This year the republic celebrates the 20th anniversary of multilateral cooperation with UNESCO. As the press service of the Bashkortostan Committee for UNESCO informs, the program of the visit includes working meetings and negotiations at the Permanent Mission of Russia to UNESCO, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris, the UNESCO Secretariat and UNESCO World Heritage Center to discuss the promotion of a nomination dossier on the cultural object "Shulgan-Tash Cave Rock Painting" to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as on the completion of an application for the opening of the first Geopark in the Russian Federation - "Yangan-Tau", a nominee for inclusion in the UNESCO Global Geopark Network.

The delegation from Bashkortostan will meet with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Russia to UNESCO Alexander Kuznetsov and staff of the Permanent Mission, visit the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris to discuss issues related to the presentation of two UNESCO-nominated objects in October, rock paintings of the Shulgan-Tash Cave and the "Yangan-Tau" Geopark.

Also, the delegation will meet with the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, Mathilde Roesler, with the head of the international UNESCO program on geosciences and geoparks, Patrick McKeever. It is planned to discuss the main issues of our applications completing and to determine the timetable and a "roadmap" for promoting UNESCO-nominated sites.

On April 20, a visit to the famous in Europe "Cave Chauvete" rock art museum in the south of France to share experience, the UNESCO Geopark "Mont d'Ardes" - to get acquainted with the experience of the French colleagues in creation and management of the UNESCO Geopark.
