2768 dumps are registered in Bashkiria – All Russia People’s Front
UFA, 6 April 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. At the beginning of 2017, 2768 dumps were registered in Bashkortostan. According to the regional Rosselkhoznadzor, almost a thousand of them are located on agricultural land. This was told by Murad Shafikov, the coordinator of the All Russia People’s Front project "General Cleaning" in the republic at a seminar for heads and employees of municipalities’ administrations devoted to waste management legal regulation.
"The largest number of landfills falls on the Ufa metropolitan area", Murad Shafikov stressed. "According to the regional office of the Russian Geographical Society, there are about 400 landfills around Ufa, 90% of them are made of construction debris.”
During the implementation of the All Russia People’s Front environmental project, the activists found a problem of planting waste from the summer cottage farming. In almost every municipality, utilities face this seasonal factor, the existing container sites are not designed for such a volume of plant waste, and organic biomass has to be disposed of instead of using it with profit.
The People's Front experts note that it is necessary to take measures to stimulate the waste generation reduction, including the transition to a separate collection of waste, in order to minimize the financial burden on citizens, especially disadvantaged social groups.
The training took place within the framework of the implementation of public proposals handed over to the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan during a regional conference of the People’s Front, where activists marked the need to strengthen information work among the population.
