Ufa student’s innovation for visually impaired children will be tested in specialized school

UFA, 3 April 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/. On April 5, the Ufa boarding school No. 8 for children with visual impairment will test a development by the Ufa student allowing visually impaired children to learn chemistry.
The pupil of the 9th form of the Ufa Lyceum No. 153 Mikhail Shcherbakov began working on a project for the blind and visually impaired six months ago guided by his mother, ophthalmologist Elena Aboimova.
The Mendeleyev's Periodic Table improved by the ninth-grader is an interactive stand with the names of the elements in Braille and an option to receive information about each of them and take control tasks by pressing buttons.
The development received a first-degree diploma at the International Scientific and Technical System Engineering Accelerator Competition "NTSI-SkAPT", which took place in Skolkovo in March.
The "NTSI-Skart" accelerator competition was organized by the resident of the Innovation Center "Skolkovo" - the Laboratory of Intellectual Technologies "LINTECH", with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Innovation Support Fund and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to promote new projects. The partners of NTSI-Skart are more than 45 largest universities and development institutes.
The winners of the NTSI-Skart receive additional points in the major subjects when passing the Unified State Exam and preferential admission to the partner universities of the project.
The Skolkovo Foundation is a non-profit organization created on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation in September 2010. The purpose of the fund is to create an ecosystem favorable for the development of entrepreneurship and research in the fields of energy efficiency and energy saving, nuclear, space, biomedical, strategic computer technologies, and software. By 2020, more than two million square meters of production, office and residential premises will be built in Skolkovo, at least 35,000 people will work at the Innovation Center.
