Ufa Planetarium announced magnetic storms days in Bashkortostan

UFA, 21 March 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. Our planet is going to survive almost two weeks of geomagnetic disturbances until March 26, 2018. The Earth has entered an extremely wide stream of dense solar wind and will experience its impact for the next thirteen days, the Ufa Planetarium informs.

On Sunday, March 18, the Earth reached the densest solar plasma flow. As a result, a week of geomagnetic disturbances changed to a week of magnetic storms. According to the current forecast, at least three events are expected during this period: the first storm took place on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at the time of the Earth's entry into a dense plasma stream, the second is expected on March 22 and the third - on March 26, 2018. After that, the geomagnetic situation should stabilize, and the magnetic disturbances will come to naught.

In general, the passage of the Earth through solar winds of this width is not an exceptional event and is often observed close to the minimum of solar activity. Several such long series of geomagnetic disturbances were observed in the year of 2017, at the stage of transition to the solar minimum.

March 21, 2018 - isolated geomagnetic disturbances;

March 22, 2018 - magnetic storm;

March 26, 2018 - magnetic storm.
