High-tech medical care volume in Bashkiria increased six-fold - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 9 February 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/. Since 2011, the volume of high-tech medical care in the republic has increased six-fold. This was reported by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov at a meeting of the Council for Science yesterday.
“Now 50% patients receive high-tech medical care in the republic. Its volume increased from 500 million rubles to almost 3 billion rubles in 2017 compared with 2011. We have a six-fold growth in less than five years,” said the head of the region. “Certainly, this work will be continued. We understand that complex surgeries are in demand. In 2017, three heart transplants, three liver transplants, and almost 40 kidney transplants were performed”.
The head of the republic noted that in recent years medical science had become more and more innovative.
“A scale and pace of high technology introduction in the health care sector is significantly ahead of similar processes in other industries. Telemedicine, molecular and genetic diagnostics are actively promoted nationwide. Implants, synthetic organs, bioengineering and other devices are used, which yesterday seemed a matter of the distant future,” said Rustem Khamitov. “Biomedicine, gene therapy is developing. Medical consultations via the Internet, conducting surgeries using medical robots are becoming a practice. It is important that scientific research these days is aimed at developing personalized medicine. The individual approach allows reducing mortality from cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases, significantly cuts costs, terms of treatment and rehabilitation.”
