Rospotrebnadzor warns of influenza A and B outbreak in Europe

UFA, 7 February 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. In the European Region, more than 3.9 thousand samples of cases were examined for presence of influenza viruses, of which 51.9% were positive. In the structure of circulating influenza viruses, influenza B viruses predominated (66.7% positive samples), the proportion of influenza A viruses was 33.3%. In the structure of influenza A viruses, viruses of subtype (H1N1) pdm09 were predominantly found, Rospotrebnadzor reports.

A high intensity of influenza virus circulation has been registered in eight countries - Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom (Wales) and Kosovo.

The previous week, the Russian Federation experienced a low incidence of influenza and ARVI.

In the aggregate population, the excess of weekly epidemic thresholds of the ARVI and flu incidence is registered in nine regions of the Russian Federation. Excess of epidemic thresholds was recorded in nine cities of the Russian Federation.

Parainfluenza viruses were accounted for 11%, adenoviruses for 12%, PC viruses for 27%, and other viruses of non- influenza-associated etiology for 25% in the structure of positive findings.
