Bashkiria Rospotrebnadzor reported situation with measles incidence

In mid-January, the Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare) warned of the worsening epidemiological situation with measles in the European region. The agency's website reported that in January-October 2017 in the EU countries the incidence rate was three times higher than in 2016. And the most complex situation is observed in Italy, Romania, Ukraine and Germany.

In Ukraine, for 11 months of last year, 3,382 cases of diseases were registered. At the same time in the Odessa region five deaths from measles have been registered, three children were among the dead.

In Bashkortostan, there were no cases of measles in the coming year, the regional Rospotrebnadzor stressed. In 2016-2017, one case was registered, that is, the measles epidemiological situation in the republic is assessed as safe.

The department representatives mark that the vaccination is still the most effective tool for preventing infection. In the republic, the level of the population coverage with preventive vaccinations against infectious diseases is quite high and ranges from 95 to 98%. Due to this, the incidence of measles, mumps, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus was reduced, and natural smallpox was liquidated.

Speaking about measles, it is necessary to know: every citizen under the age of 35 should have two vaccinations against this disease. Health workers are vaccinated regardless of age. Apply for a scheme of necessary vaccinations at a medical facility in place of your residence.
