Nine fonts are additionally equipped at request of believers in Bashkiria

On the night of January 18, the Orthodox world celebrates the Baptism of Christ - a Christian holiday, associated with baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River. On Epiphany Eve and on the very day of the feast, in all Orthodox churches, after the Divine Liturgy, the Great Blessing of the Waters is performed. In Bashkortostan, 70 fonts are equipped for this purpose. According to the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, nine fonts are organized additionally at the request of believers - the fonts appeared in Blagoveschensk, Mishkino, Kaltasy and Nurimanovo districts. A full list of places with consecrated waters can be found on the website of the department.

"All the fonts and ice holes used for water consecration in the republic are equipped with heating places, safe access ways and descents, spots with hot drinks. In each of them, rescuers, medical brigades and police officers are on duty," the ministry's press service explained. "We urge people to refrain from swimming in unequipped places - this can be dangerous for life".

As previously reported, three fonts are arranged in the capital of the republic.
