Bashkortostan Public Chamber signed agreements with NGOs on public observers preparation for Russian presidential elections

On December 25, in Ufa the Agreements of the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan with non-profit organizations on interaction and training of public observers for the presidential election were signed. The documents were signed by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Assembly of Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Regional Branch of the Association for the Protection of Civil and Electoral Rights "Civil Control", the Association of the Council of Municipalities of the Republic of Bashkortostan and many others. This was reported to the Bashinform News Agency by the press service of the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan.
According to Olga Panchihina, the Chairman of the Public Chamber RB, the subject of the document signed will be interaction of the Public Chamber with non-profits in improving the legal culture of the electoral process participants, organizing awareness-raising and educational activities during the elections, and public observers training.
Another important work to be done by the Public Chamber in conjunction with the regional election commission is to organize the training of observers so that they understand how to monitor the election process in full compliance with the law.
The department added that on December 5, 2017, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law conferring the public chambers of the regions with the right, as subjects of public control, to nominate observers to election commissions. Now the Public Chamber of the Republic of Bashkortostan forms a body of public observers from the number of residents with an active civil position, representatives of the non-profit sector and municipal councils of municipalities to help ensure the procedure for public observation in the presidential elections.
