Bashkir Met Office explained reasons of ruthenium emission late disclosure

UFA, 22 December 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Daria Petrova/. On December 21, a regular meeting of parliamentarians was held this year in the State Assembly - Kurultay RB. The Head of Bashkiria Rustem Khamitov also took part in it. One of the topics of discussion was implementation of the "Ecology and Natural Resources of Bashkortostan" program. The Minister of Nature Management and Ecology of RB Ildar Khadyev delivered a report.
Among other issues of concern to parliamentarians was ruthenium emission into the atmosphere, which was recorded at the end of September 2017. In particular, the deputy chairman of the Russian Ecological Party "Greens", deputy of the State Assembly RB Rufina Shagapova asked why about the ruthenium excess became known only after two months.
According to the head of the Bashkir Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Bashkir Met Office), Vilora Gorokholskaya, the excess concentration of ruthenium was found in Europe due to non-standard air flows - from east to west.
"Our west colleagues were the first to discover the excess, since they probably carry out more detailed observations of atmospheric air. As for the isotopes, we do not observe them at all. If at that time there was a standard, western, air transfer, then all this air mass would shift to Siberia, and we would not have known about anything and have not felt anything", said Vilora Gorokholskaya.
In this case, according to the head of Bashhydromet, "nothing terrible has happened". Further observations of the atmosphere, which were conducted for three months, "showed values comparable to the values that have been registered for all these years".
