Rustem Khamitov: "We should strengthen role of Foundation for Science Support and Development"

UFA, 4 December 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The Foundation for Science Support and Development of Bashkortostan will receive a republican status and additional sources of financing. This was stated by the Head of the Region Rustem Khamitov in the annual Address to the State Assembly - the Kurultay of the Republic.

The head of Bashkortostan noted that the role of science was intensifying in the large-scale modernization of the economy.

"The increase in the speed of innovations covering all spheres of public life requires restructuring of scientific and technological policies," said Rustem Khamitov.

At the same time, the share of research and development in the GRP of the republic is only 0.74 percent. The total volume of research and development work of all universities of the republic is less than 1 billion rubles.

“It is necessary to increase the effectiveness of research and development, including by concentrating resources on priority research areas related to economic growth, labor productivity and quality of life in the republic,” stressed Rustem Khamitov.

According to the head of the region, the work of the Scientific Coordination Council operating today under the Academy of Sciences RB and the Council for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Policy under the Government RB should be analyzed. The contribution of the Development Corporation, the Foundation for Science Support and Development, the Venture Fund of the Republic to financing the research activity should be assessed.

The non-profit organization Foundation for Science Support and Development RB was established in May 2012 with a goal of creating an infrastructure for supporting fundamental and applied developments, integrating scientific achievements into the economy of the republic, promoting them in the domestic and foreign markets, and popularizing science.
