Ufa Airport set historical passenger traffic record: 2.5 million passengers

UFA, 15 November 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. For the first time the passenger traffic of the Ufa International Airport reached a historic high - 2.5 million people were served there for the year. On November 15, an online counter selected in real time the 2,5 millionth passenger who was checked-in today at 11.26 on the Ufa-Moscow flight. It was the head of HR department of a large petrochemical enterprise in Salavat - Ludmila Ilyushina. At the check-in desk she was greeted by the well-known TV hosts Flura Murzina and Dmitry Karetko.

She noted that the Ufa airport was convenient, employees worked promptly, she had never any had problems with departure and arrival.

As a gift from the airport, Ludmila Ilyushina received an opportunity to attend the business hall for three times, a certificate for a free parking lot for one year and souvenirs. The airline presented her a certificate for a free round-trip flight in any direction of its route network and a bonus card for several thousand miles.

According to Tatyana Rizvan, the head of the press-service of the capital's air hub, this year, thanks to the development of air transportation in the region at a pace exceeding the industry average, it was possible to establish a historic record.

"There were never so many serviced passengers before in the history of the Ufa Airport. Speaking about peak values, in 1989 there were 2 million 220 passengers. We exceeded this figure last year, and 2.5 million people are an absolute historical maximum. It's good that we reached this figure first in the Volga Federal District among comparable airports. This suggests that the inhabitants of our region prefer air transport to other types of transport", Tatiana Rizvan said.

The representative of the airport added that this year the Ufa airport completed a large-scale reconstruction of the airfield complex, which was conducted from 2014 in the conditions of the operated airfield. In the near future, on behalf of the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, the reconstruction of the domestic airlines terminal will begin. The project will increase the capacity of the domestic terminal by half - from 600 to 1.2 thousand passengers per hour.
