Russia may refuse to participate in 2018 Winter Olympics

The Russian team participation in the Olympic Games 2018 in South Korea is unlikely, if the national anthem of the Russian Federation will be prohibited to perform there. This was announced to journalists by the first deputy head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, the Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova, Izvestia reports today.

According to the representative of the State Duma, non-participation of athletes in the opening ceremony of the Olympics or failure to comply with the national anthem is unacceptable.

Recall that the American media reported that the International Olympic Committee (IOC), perhaps, will allow the Russian national team to participate in the Games. However, due to a doping scandal, the anthem of the Russian Federation should not be performed at the competitions, and the delegation from our country will not be able to take part in the opening ceremony.
