Bashkortostan is chosen as pilot region for providing lung ventilators for seriously ill children at home
UFA, 25 October 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. Bashkortostan was chosen as one of five pilot regions of the country to provide artificial lung ventilation devices for seriously ill children at home. This is reported by TASS with reference to the assignment of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets to accelerate this process.
The project should also be implemented in Chuvashia, Buryatia, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region and Novosibirsk Region.
The issue of providing patients with ALV apparatuses was twice raised on a direct line with President Vladimir Putin.
The Deputy Minister Sergei Kraevoy noted that funding for this type of assistance at home was provided by the regions, but they often had lack of the funds.
"At the moment, 12 people have already been provided with the devices as part of the pilot project, 20 units have been purchased. And we need 400 devices if all these 400 (children) can be discharged home from hospitals", he said.
For today in Russia only 300 people are provided with lung ventilators at home. Due to the project, patients living in intensive care for a long time will be able to receive the necessary help. Participation in the experiment is supposed only for children.
