Installation of monument to Bashkir warriors in Netherlands was postponed to January

UFA, 14 September 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. The grand opening of the monument to Bashkir warriors in the Netherlands dedicated to brave liberators of Europe from Napoleonic troops was postponed from September to January 2018. It was planned to unveil the sculpture on September 11 as part of the activities within the 200th anniversary of the Netherlands liberation from the Napoleonic occupation. However, the date was postponed, as the funds had not been received from the Russian side, Bashkortostan TV and Radio Company reports.
Over 200 years ago, the Bashkir warriors moved to Amsterdam to drive out the Napoleonic invaders. The Dutch in memory of the liberators decided to establish a monumental composition on the banks of the river IJssel in the province of Gelderland. The memorial represents two riders: one is Count Benckendorff, and the other is a Bashkir equestrian. Alexander Taratynov, the author of monuments to Chekhov in Germany, Pushkin in Yugoslavia, Vysotsky in Montenegro, Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna in the Netherlands, Suvorov's bust in Switzerland and many other projects, the Honored Artist of Russia works under the sculpture.
Meanwhile, on September 30 in the village of Krasnousolsk, Gafury district, the opening of a whole sculptural complex dedicated to the Bashkir warriors will be held. It is created with the help of grateful descendants. After the opening, the Archery Festival will be held there.
