Day of Knowledge in Russia may be transferred to October 1
UFA, 30 August 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The beginning of the academic year in Russia may be transferred to October 1. The bill with this proposal was submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. It suggests granting local governments the right to transfer the start of the educational process in educational institutions to October 1.
As reported by Izvestia, the deputies from the LDPR faction Boris Chernyshev, Vadim Dengin and Mikhail Degtyarev submitted this initiative. In their opinion, these amendments to the law will help to determine the beginning of the academic year taking into account local climatic, national and other peculiarities.
If the draft law is adopted, the September 1 date will remain the general date of the beginning of the academic year, but municipalities will have an opportunity to transfer it depending on objective conditions. The adoption of the bill will also allow "using more efficiently the warm season period for a full rest of children", it is stated in the explanatory note to the document.
