Double and Arabic names of children are gaining popularity in Bashkiria

In Bashkortostan, Teona, Bozhena, Danelia became the rarest names among the newborn girls this year, among the boys - Domenik, Dobromir, Leon, Gayar. According to statistics, the number of parents who prefer to call their children unusually increases.

In recent years, double names have been gaining popularity - Alla-Elizabeth, as well as Arab ones - Amir, Samira, Azalia, State TV and Radio Company «Bashkortostan» reports.

According to Aliya Sataeva, the leading expert of the State Committee RB for Justice Affairs, there are 396 Artems, 389 Timurs, 332 Alexandras currently in the republic. The girls named Sofia are 332.

Throughout Russia, the most popular are still such names as Sofia, Polina, Alexander and Matvei, and Victoria, Anastasia, Egor and George are in demand for a hundred years already.

As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, in April of this year the State Duma deputies adopted in the third and final reading a bill prohibiting to include figures, signs, profanity and ranks in children names. The law presupposes introduction of amendments to the Family Code of Russia.

Initially, the bill proposed to exclude abbreviations as well, but in the end they were removed from the ban as popular and became traditional in Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and other regions of the country.
