Those who want to get family and have baby will receive even more support in Bashkiria

The Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov in his interview with the Bashkortostan TV and Radio Company and the branch of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company (GTRK), Bashkortostan, noted a decrease in the birth rate in the region. In the first half of this year, it fell by more than 12%.

Rustem Khamitov outlined two reasons for that.

"The first is a demographic gap, which the whole country is facing now. Today we are reaping the fruits of the late 1990s - early 2000s, when the birth rate was extremely low", said the Head of the Region. "The second reason is that our citizens, especially young people, began to count their incomes. If there is no possibility to support the second, third child or simply there is no possibility to have a child, then they postpone it for later. These minus 12 percent constitute a problem for us".

At the same time, Rustem Khamitov drew attention to the fact that mortality in the republic declined.

"With respect to the first half of 2016, we have minus 2.6 percent in mortality," the Head of Bashkortostan said. "But in general, a decrease in the death rate did not compensate for the decline in the birth rate. There is no demographic increase. We will take measures on supporting the birth of children, so that we can help more those who want to get a family and give birth to a child".

Rustem Khamitov noted that in the near future, the Ministry of Family Issues would be formed on the basis of one of the regional agencies.
