Shanghai Ranking-2017: Ufa Aviation University among best universities of world

Ufa State Aviation Technical University (USATU ) is among 12 Russian universities, included in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (ARWU) universities. In addition to USATU, it included Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Novosibirsk State Universities, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Higher School of Economics, MIPT, MEPhI, MISA, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Belgorod State National Research University, the press centre of the university said. .

Last year, USATU also entered this list when a special rating was published on engineering sciences (seven subject areas were assessed).

The rating of 2017 assesses 52 subject areas and about 4 thousand universities. 1409 universities reached the final part. The best universities are determined on the basis of five criteria: productivity of scientific activity, citation index, international cooperation, number of publications in the best journals, availability of international awards and prizes.

The Shanghai Ranking is the world's most famous university rating. The program "5-100" is focused on it, as well as on the QS World University Rankings and the rating of the best universities in the world, according to the Times Higher Education. One of the tasks of the project is to have five Russian universities in each of these lists.

The Director of the HSE development program Irina Karelina explained to RBC that ARWU was considered to be the "strictest" rating, since it applied only bibliometric indicators and indicators of the outstanding awards availability in various fields received by employees during their work at the university.
