Wife of Kirghizia President visited PET Centre and "Markhamat" Charity Foundation in Ufa
UFA, 23 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. On Thursday, June 22, the spouse of the President of Kyrgyzstan Raisa Atambayeva and the spouse of the Head of Bashkortostan Gulshat Khamitova got acquainted with work of the Ufa Centre for Nuclear Medicine "PET Technologies".
The PET Centre was opened in the capital of the republic in 2014, and during this time more than 12 thousand people have been examined there.
The guests visited the operating room with a cyber-knife - a unique device capable of affecting tumors with gamma radiation with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. Doctors of the Centre told that the cyber-knife device is one of the newest ones delivered to Russia, with a system of 3D planning and a system for assessing the quality of planning.
More than one thousand people have been treated by this device for 3,5 years, this year - about 200 people. The treatment is absolutely free for residents of Bashkortostan.
The PET Centre itself uses an innovative technology combining two modern methods of examination: positron emission and computed tomography, which allows detecting the disease in the early stages. It provides an opportunity to study in detail the human organs and systems during only one examination. With the help of the positron emission tomography it is possible to recognize even millimeter tumor structures, and with computed tomography - accurately localize a tumor.
It was noted during a conversation with Raisa Atambayeva and Gulshat Atambayeva, that the Ufa PET Centre was the first medical institution to diagnose and treat cancer in Russia established as public-private partnership.
Then, Raisa Atambayeva and Gulshat Atambayeva visited the Children's Development Centre for children with disabilities of the "Markhamat" Charitable Educational Foundation. The Centre's pupils are 250 children. As the director of the foundation Aigul Gareeva said, the classes were year-round, from September to May.
The guests talked with the children, their parents and teachers, attended the lessons with special children, which displayed what they had already learned.
