City of flowers will appear in Bashkiria

UFA, 20 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Dariya Petrova/. This summer, the city of Oktyabrsky will again become a "city of flowers". This is the name of the campaign, which is held here since 2015. Common townspeople take part in the competition for the best landscape design. They break the flower beds and put flowers in the streets with their own hands.

Applications for participation are accepted throughout the summer. At the end of the season the jury, consisting mainly of representatives of the administration, sums up the results. The best ones are defined in several nominations: among individual and multi-apartment houses, educational institutions (schools, kindergartens and institutions of additional education are evaluated separately), enterprises of trade and services and among large industrial companies. Discussions of applications and disputes sometimes take several hours, as the representatives of the competitive commission shared.

Since the competition appeared on the initiative of the citizens themselves, it is held entirely on a free of charge basis - there is no material incentive for participation for the contestants. Nevertheless, there are more and more people wishing to participate in it each year.

According to the representative of the administration, the "Oktyabrsky - the City of Flowers" campaign was included in one of the two applications that the city submitted to the All-Russian Contest «Best Municipal Practice».
