Russian tourists prefer beach vacation

UFA, 9 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. Russian tourists began more often to fly abroad. As the «Izvestiya» newspaper reports with reference to the data of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the growth in demand for popular destinations was about 30 percent compared to the last year. In winter, Goa, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Dominican Republic were priority destinations of Russians. In summer, Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Spain and Turkey are traditionally at the peak of popularity.

In the opinion of ATOR Vice-President Dmitry Gorin, tourism business in Russia is experiencing an upswing, which is primarily due to the stabilization of the exchange rate and simplification of visa regime with some countries. Also, the influence of the unusually cold spring is not excluded.

"The weather factor, of course, affects tourism given our difficult climatic conditions and the number of light days a year. People want heat, sun and sea. Therefore, beach tourism is a priority. The middle of the summer is coming, but there is still no summer," said Dmitry Gorin.
