International Children's Day: more boys than girls in Bashkiria

UFA, 1 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. In Bashkortostan in 2016, it was born by 1718 boys more than girls (28673 against 26955). On average 105-107 boys are born for 100 girls. Such statistics are given by experts of Bashkortostan Statistics Agency, timed to the International Children's Day.
In addition, statistics note that the share of repeated births increased. Of the number born in the last year, the first-borns were 37.2%. The share of second births increased to 42.9% (in 2010 this figure was 36.3%), the third and subsequent children - up to 19.9% (in 2010 - 16%).
Most of the children - 82.3% were born in families. Moreover, the most intensive reproductive period falls on the first five years of life as a couple: 25.3% of children are born in the first year of marriage, 40% - in families with 1-4 years of marriage.
17.5% of children were born in unregistered marriages. The highest prevalence of extramarital births is observed in early (before 18 years - 59.7% and 18-19 years - 37.9%) and late births (40 years and more - 30.1%).
As of January 1, 2016, 894,000 people under the age of 18 live in Bashkortostan, of which 456,800 boys (51%) and 437,200 girls (49%). At the same time there are 400.4 thousand preschool children (0-6 years), 493.6 thousand schoolchildren - 7-17 years.
