Monument to children of war was erected in Bashkiria

UFA, 10 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. In Bashkortostan on the Victory Day a solemn opening of a monument to the homefront workers and children of war took place. The memorial appeared in the village of Alekseevka in the Ufa district. The project was implemented as part of a program to support local initiatives, the municipality reports.

More than two thousand residents came to the celebration of the monument unveiling. Schoolchildren laid flowers and soft toys to the new memorial in memory of those who selflessly worked in the homefront and thus brought the Victory closer. Veterans and honourary guests, management and employees of the district administration, heads of rural settlements, residents of the district took part in the solemn meeting.

10,280 soldiers and officers - natives of the Ufa district fought heroically on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, 7,200 of them died on the battlefields. Nine warriors returned to their homeland as the Heroes of the Soviet Union, one - the Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory. The 72nd anniversary of Victory in the region was met by 12 participants of the war and more than 450 homefront workers.

Residents of the region united in the ranks of the "Immortal Regiment" campaign. Everyone could taste the soldiers' porridge and hot tea from a mobile kitchen trailer. The celebration ended with a salute and a festive concert.
