Bashkiria Government discussed high water situation

UFA, 3 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. The Government of Bashkortostan discussed a situation with spring flooding. As it was announced at a daily briefing, water was registered at the level of floodplain in three rivers: in the River Belaya in Ufa and in the village of Okhlebinino, and also in the Rivers Sim and Dema.

“In general, flood waters are expected to reach the lower level of the forecast,” said the Prime Minister of the Government RB Rustem Mardanov. “In Ufa in the River Belaya, the high water was initially expected at 750-850 cm, it crossed the mark of seven meters in the morning of May 2. In all other rivers, the levels are significantly lower than the floodplain or lower than the last year figures.

Flooding was recorded in Miyaky, Chekmagush, Kugarchi, Ishimbay, Meleuz districts, as well as in Ufa and Sterlitamak with surrounding settlements along the rivers. Total, 129 building surrounding grounds with a population of 358 people, including 59 children, were flooded in the republic. Most residents refuse to evacuate to temporary accommodation points and there are no cases of emergency, the Prime Minister marked.
