Rustem Khamitov: "We cannot put up with situation that has developed in passenger transportation sphere"

On April 17, at the House of the Republic, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a meeting of the permanent coordination meeting on law enforcement in the region devoted to additional measures on improving safety in passenger transportation and combating illegal carriers. Members of the Government RB, heads of relevant ministries and departments, heads of municipalities took part in it.

The Head of the Region noted that last year, due to the republican assistance, more than 100 buses run on ecological gas fuel were purchased for Ufa. At the expense of the federal and republican budgets Zatonsky Bridge was built, Timashevsky highway crossing is under construction. It is planned to build a bridge in International Street.

The Head of the Republic cited figures indicating that the last year the number of road accidents caused by bus drivers increased by 8.5 percent. Four people died and 324 were injured in 204 road accidents. For a year the State Traffic Inspectorate prevented violations committed by bus drivers by one third more. Total they are accounted for more than 125 thousand violations.

According to the Head of Bashkortostan, it is necessary to strengthen road surveillance on roads, to revoke licenses from unscrupulous carriers, and in regard to obvious crime - to take the most stringent measures, to protect honest business and the population from it.

The administrations of the municipalities and the State Committee for Transport RB are instructed to develop rational schemes of bus routes, establish requirements for the capacity and intervals for the departure of public transport vehicles, taking into account the capacity of the road network.
