Rustam Iskhakov will represent Bashkiria in new composition of Russian Public Chamber

UFA, 21 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. The Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan Rustam Iskhakov was nominated as a member of the Public Chamber of Russia. His candidature was elected by the republican Public Chamber an expanded meeting in Ufa. Rustam Iskhakov is the executive director of the Association "Council of Municipalities of the Republic of Bashkortostan". In the past years the region was represented in the Russian Public Chamber by the Director of the Oncology Research Institute Bashkir State Medical University Shamil Gantsev, Metropolitan Nikon of Ufa and Sterlitamak, nominated by public organizations.

As previously reported by Bashinform News Agency, the new composition of the Public Chamber was started to be formed by Vladimir Putin. The President defined the candidacies of 40 citizens of the country who had special merits to the state and society, and sent them offers to become members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. At least half of the candidates represent professional and creative unions, associations of employers and their associations, as well as other non-profit organizations established to represent and protect the interests of professional and social groups.

The Chamber exercises public control over the activities of federal executive bodies, executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation and local self-government bodies, promotes implementation of state policy in the field of ensuring human rights in detention facilities.
