Rustem Khamitov took part in Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov meeting with heads of regions
UFA, 14 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov took part in the meeting of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with the leaders of the five constituent entities of the Russian Federation on issues of Eurasian humanitarian cooperation in Moscow. It was also attended by the Heads of Altai, Tatarstan, Khakassia and Yakutia. Prospects of using the potential of the Russian regions in advancing humanitarian aspects of integration in the Eurasian continent were discussed during the meeting.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that various interregional projects were implemented in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Festivals, competitions, cultural, educational and other events were held, including those under the auspices of UNESCO, which formed and strengthened the common humanitarian space of Eurasia.
The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov in his speech presented a number of initiatives aimed at developing interregional and international cooperation.
The Head of the Region noted that the republic had successfully cooperated with UNESCO for 20 years. Thus, the rock drawings in the Shulgan-Tash Cave were included in the UNESCO World Heritage Preliminary List. The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve "Bashkir Urals" was created. In the near future one of the first in Russia UNESCO Geopark will appear in the republic.
Rustem Khamitov said that in May 2016 in Ufa the "Crossroads of Cultures: Intercultural Dialogue and Cooperation in the Eurasian Space" conference was held within the framework of the international festival-forum "The Heart of Eurasia". As a result, the Ufa Declaration was adopted, which initiated the work of the Eurasian Cultural Forum. In July this year, Ufa plans to host the 2nd Eurasian Humanitarian Forum and the "Bashkortostan - Heart of Eurasia: Intercultural Dialogue and Cooperation in the Eurasian Space" scientific and practical conference dedicated to the issues of professional education.
The Head of the Republic also outlined plans for the next five years to hold major international events in Bashkortostan.
