1134 women are accounted for 1000 men in Bashkortostan according to statistics

In Bashkortostan 2.2 million women live, representing 53 percent of the total population. 1,000 men are accounted for 1134 representatives of the fair sex, according to statistics. These findings were published by Bashkortostan Statistics Agency on the eve of the Women's Day. According to expert estimates, the ratio of men and women differs by age categories. Still more boys than girls are born (on average 950 girls per 1,000 boys). Sustainable predominance of women develops after 34 years. With age increasing the preponderance of the female population increases too and to 70 years the number of women by 2.3 times exceeds male peers. It is also estimated that women live longer: their life expectancy is 76 years, while men live by 10 years less.

Women work mainly in health and social services, education - by 84 percent, wholesale and retail trade, hotels and restaurants - 68 percent.

Women engaged in the economy have higher levels of education than men. Among the employed women 34.4 percent have higher education, among men - 21.8 percent.

Significant predominance of the fair sex is observed among students of health professions, business and administration, education, culture and art, the service sector.
