Bashkir schoolboy won medal at International Mathematical Olympiad in Romania

UFA, 3 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. 111 participants from 19 countries competed at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Romania (Romanian Master in Mathematics), which is annually held in Bucharest this year. In the team event the Russian team finished the fourth after South Korea, the UK and China. Recently 12 Russian schoolchildren-participants returned to their homeland, "Izvestiya" report.
Among the Russian winners there was the Bashkir schoolboy Marat Abdrakhmanov, now studying at Lyceum 31 of Chelyabinsk.
Of the 12 medals won by the Russian schoolchildren, there were nine silver and three bronze ones. Korean, Chinese, English and Ukrainian mathematicians became competitors to Russians this year. Seven gold medals were distributed between them.
The schoolchildren’s leisure was not limited to textbooks. Of the four days in Bucharest, only two were devoted to solution of problems. The rest of the time young mathematicians walked through the capital of Romania and went on tours.
Prizes in Bucharest were not the most expensive. In addition to medals there were only small gifts. However, the victory at the Olympiad in Romania is part of our schoolchildren selection for other international competitions.
