Ufa residents participated in "Portrait of Russian urban cinema audience"

UFA, 27 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) in cooperation with the Cinema Foundation presented data from the "Portrait of Russian urban cinema audience" survey. Seven thousand respondents were interviewed in cinemas of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Omsk, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Ufa.
Moviegoers were attentive to the choice of the film and planned going to the movies in advance. Two-thirds of respondents (66 percent) selected a film long before a cinema visit. The share of viewers, who chose a film on the screening day, but before coming to cinema, was 17 percent. Almost as many people choose a film directly in cinema.
In a situation of choice: watch Russian films now or wait for sessions of the foreign film, 77 percent of respondents choose to watch Russian films. The most important thing for them is that a story should be catching.
More than half of respondents (58 percent) state that the quality of Russian cinema has improved over the past two years. According to the nationwide survey, going to the movies is the most common way of spending leisure time. The dominant frequency of going to the movies is 1-2 times a month.
The VCIOM survey was conducted on December 29-30, 2016; January 6-7, 2017; January 19-21, 2017; January 26-28, 2017. The survey method was a personal formalized interview using a tablet computer covering 7034 people.
