More than 2 million energy-saving lamps are disposed in Bashkiria

In Bashkortostan for a year of the All-Russian Social environmental project "Ecobox" implementation it was managed to safely dispose more than 2 million energy-saving lamps, the Ministry of Ecology RB reports. Currently, more than 1.2 thousand eco-boxes are established in the territory of 23 municipalities in the region. Location of containers is specified on the official website.

"More than two million energy-saving lamps - is about eight kilograms of mercury. The collected hazardous household waste was not delivered to landfills but were neutralized at a specialized plant", said the head of the "Ecobox" project Alexander Gusev. “The results of last year's collection show that environmental education and environmental situation are inextricably linked. Due to the social direction of the project, as part of which we conduct environmental lessons and activities, involve external social advertising, we can observe how the performance of separate collection of toxic waste improved".
