Bashkiria is among leaders in birth rate in national rating

The "Sober Russia" federal project and the expert-analytical centre of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation compiled a national birth rate rating, the "Izvestia" reports . At the end of 2016 Tuva, Chechnya and Ingushetia became the leaders, Leningrad, Pskov and Magadan Regions – the outsiders. Bashkortostan entered the top 20 leaders of the rating, having taken the 16th place with a total score of 32.16, ahead of neighbouring Tatarstan by one point, which, respectively, is the 17th with 32.06 points.

The data are based on open sources and departmental statistics. The final score was made up of five criteria: birth rate, population growth, number of children per woman, number of induced abortion, level of social comfort for birth rate.

The highest birth rate was registered in Tuva, Chechnya, Altai, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Nenets Autonomous District, Buryatia, Yakutia, Tyumen Region and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District. The lowest rates were in Tver, Voronezh, Ryazan, Pskov, Penza, Smolensk, Tula and Tambov Regions, as well as in Mordovia and the Leningrad Region.

From January 2016 to January 2017 natural population growth was observed only in 43 subjects (51 percent) of 85. With regard to the third criterion - "the number of children per woman", its value does not depend on the age of the population and characterizes the average birth rate in a given period in the region.

For the fourth criterion - "induced abortion " - the number of abortions per 100 births was calculated. The lowest values were registered in Dagestan and Chechnya (12 abortions per 100 births), as well as in Ingushetia (13 per 100). The greatest number of abortions was recorded in Magadan (97 per 100), the Jewish Autonomous Region (81 per 100) and the Pskov region (74 per 100).

The last criterion - "the level of social comfort for birth rate" was calculated based on several factors. These are the level of alcohol, tobacco and narcotic hazards, healthy lifestyle, standard of living, the number of marriages and divorces, the number of children in a family.
