Russian Phoenix won strong-willed victory over Italians at Kontinental Sledge Hockey Cup in Ufa

UFA, 18 January 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Dmitry Slezin/. The first game day of the Kontinental Sledge Hockey Cup between the best European club teams took place in Ufa yesterday. Before a match between the Russian Phoenix with the Italians from the HC South Tyrol Eagles a grand opening of the tournament took place. The multiple Paralympic champion and pride of Bashkortostan and Russia Rima Batalova made a symbolic faceoff.

In the first period of the match Phoenix and South Tyrolean Eagles teams exchanged penalties, but Russians outhit even shorthanded. A goal was scored five minutes before the break during the Italian frontal attack - 1: 0. In the fifth minute of the second period Alexey Lysov equalized - 1: 1.

Six minutes before the end of the match Phoenix was in a power-play. Igor Lomakin used his chance to hit the net - 2: 1.

On January 18, at 12:00 Phoenix will clash with Czech Sparta, which yesterday defeated the Chinese team (14: 1), and led the standings.
