Rustem Khamitov presented republican state awards to Olympians and Paralympians of Bashkortostan

UFA, 23 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On December 22, the Head of Ufa Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov presented state awards of the Republic of Bashkortostan to participants of XXXI Summer Olympic Games, and the All-Russian public sports competitions in sports included in the program of the XV Paralympic Summer Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Medals, certificates of honour and letters of thanks were awarded for achievements to 33 athletes and coaches of the region.

The Head of the Republic has shared the plans for construction of new and reconstruction of existing sports facilities. So, this week an Ice Arena will open in Chekmagush District, and a new fitness centre will start running in Buzdyak District. In 2017, the first stage of a new sports complex in Ufa in Kamyshlinskay Street will be completed. The facility, which will include several swimming pools, will be completely commissioned in 2018. An agreement was reached with the Fencing Federation of Russia on the construction a fencing centre in Ufa under co-financing terms. In preparation for the 100th anniversary of the republic stadiums in the cities of Meleuz, Neftekamsk, Tuymazy, other municipalities will be renovated and built.

“We are expanding the list of objects. A month ago, we signed an agreement with a major corporation on the construction of another large complex, comprising a gym, arena, swimming pools,” said the Head of the Region. “In general, to date, just few municipalities have no good sports and recreation complexes. I believe that we will complete this program for 2017-2018. Each municipality will have a swimming pool, a good gym, opportunities for sports and physical culture practicing”, Rustem Khamitov said.

Rustem Khamitov invited Olympians and Paralympians as guests of honour to take part in the International Children's Summer Games to be held in Ufa in 2019.

The Рead of Bashkortostan stressed that sport should be clean.

One of the awardees, athlete-instructor at Ufa School of Olympic Reserve No. 7 Andrey Koptev expressed gratitude to the Head of the Republic for his support of Paralympic athletes.
