Most of Bashkiria residents go to work despite illness - poll

UFA, 21 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. The research service of the HeadHunter website conducted a survey among the employees of Bashkortostan companies to find out their attitude to working while illness. It turned out that half of the respondents (53 percent) take medicine and still go to work. Another 21 percent will remain at home in such a situation, but will work remotely, 18 percent will take a day off and have medical treatment at home. Only eight percent of respondents will take a sick leave.

Among the reasons why people tend not to take a sick leave, the most popular option was "I do not want to lose in wages" (it was selected by 44 percent of respondents). Another 41 percent say that their functions in the company are unique and no one else can perform them. 35 percent believe that a common cold - is not a reason to take a sick leave. There were also those whose sick leave may lead to a conflict with management, 18 percent report that their leadership does not approve such practice.
