Chernobyl Heroes Alley appeared in Ufa

UFA, 21 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. An Alley of Chernobyl Heroes appeared in Ufa. It is located in the Kalinin district from Rybakov Street to a square near the city cultural and leisure centre. The decision on its naming was taken by the deputies of the City Council on December 21.

As noted in the explanatory memorandum, the local public organization of disabled "Chernobyl Union" applied with a request to perpetuate the memory of Chernobyl accident liquidators. On April 26, 2016 it was marked exactly 30 years since the terrible event. The City Council deputies considered that a whole alley in the historic centre of Chernikovka district should be named to honour them.

Today Ufa is a home city to about 700 liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, more than 200 veterans of special risk units and 60 citizens who served in "Mayak" and at the Semipalatinsk range.
