Chairman of Bashkir Branch of Russian Geographical Society participates in Arctic Forum

UFA, 5 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Evgeniya Syutkina/. In St. Petersburg, the "Expoforum" centre hosts the 6th International Forum" The Arctic: Present and Future" opened today. Its organizer is the interregional public organization "Association of Polar Explorers". The Chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Bashkortostan Kamil Ziganshin takes part in the forum on behalf of our republic.

The Forum annually sums up the public debates on the topic of the Arctic, and also forms the agenda of cooperation between the authorities and the Arctic Zone Development Society of the Russian Federation. The Forum program is focused on the priority areas of the Strategy of the Arctic Zone Development RF.

During the work sessions and roundtables over one thousand participants will discuss the need to improve the legislation of the Arctic and develop cooperation between the regions, departments and sectors of the economy. Also among the key issues of the Forum are Arctic regions plans for the development of support areas, state support mechanisms and practical aspects of the activities in the Arctic.

The Forum will last until December 7. Its main outcome will be a resolution - a set of social proposals and initiatives for the development of Russia's Arctic zone, which annually is submitted to the state authorities.
