Ufa is included in UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities
UFA, 17 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. The capital of Bashkortostan is included in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). Ufa has received a certificate of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning confirming its membership in the network.
As defined in the GNLC guiding documents, a learning city - is a municipality, which effectively mobilizes its resources in all areas with a view to sustainable development. It promotes inclusive education from primary to tertiary level, revitalizes learning in families and communities, promotes learning for and in the workplace, extends the use of modern learning technologies, improves quality and provides excellent learning outcomes, promotes a culture of learning in the native and foreign languages. Thus, the city expands individual empowerment, strengthens social cohesion, promotes sustainable economic and cultural development of the territory.
On the basis of the ideas of the learning city concept implementation set forth in the Ufa’s application, the parties will form a briefing note, which will be distributed in the community of the Global Network of Learning Cities in terms of exchange of experience, the Director UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning Arne Carlsen marked in his accompanying letter.
In particular, the application of the capital of Bashkortostan includes the information about expanding preschool educational institutions network, development of inclusive education at schools for children with disabilities, e-learning system forming and improving learning quality in the languages of the republic and foreign languages, as well as creating and implementing educational programs for senior people in the "People's University of the Third Age", the press service of Bashkortostan Committee for UNESCO Affairs informs.
