USPTU was visited by Consul of Cuba Embassy in Russia

UFA, 15 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency/. Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (USPTU) was visited by the Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Russia Juan Carlos Galván.

He met with Cuban citizens who arrived in Ufa in early October and started their studies at the USPTU preparatory faculty.

Studies take place under the state program in the framework of the agreement between Russia and Cuba.

Mr. Galván reminded his compatriots that in the seventies many people spoke Russian in Cuba, and today, when the cooperation between the two countries was expanding again, the study of the Russian language would be again relevant. Cuban students are now studying in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Kazan and in Ufa since this year.

There was also a conversation of the Consul with the Rector of the University Ramil Bakhtizin and representatives of the university administration. The Consul conveyed greetings and warmest wishes from the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation Emilio Ratmir Lozada Garcia and thanked them for attention to Cuban students.

"It was with the training of Cuban students in the mid-eighties when the development of our university as a major international centre began. And today, thirty years later, we are in the 17th place in Russia in the number of foreign students. And we are pleased that a new phase of cooperation with Cuba starts. Several programs we have implemented in the framework of the additional professional education. Lectures were held both at our university and in Cuba. And now, 22 people from the Republic of Cuba are studying now at the Russian language courses with the aim to continue their education in the capacity of students", said Ramil Bakhtizin.
