Night sky will be coloured with bright meteor shower in Bashkiria

UFA, 10 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. Residents of Bashkortostan will be able to watch one of the most powerful meteor showers. Quick meteors of Leonid stream are moving through the sky from November 5 to 30, with a maximum activity falling on the early morning November 18.

According to experts of the Ufa Planetarium, the meteor shower with a radiant in the Leo constellation is associated with the Tempel-Tuttle comet, which circulation around the Sun constitutes 33 years. The intensity of the meteor shower is variable, this year it is expected up to 20 meteors per hour.

The best time to observe the November event is after four o'clock in the morning, when the Leo constellation rises above the horizon in the east. This year, watching will be interfered with the bright waning Moon. It is desirable to admire the bright flashes far away from city lights. It is not required any astronomical tools for observing meteors.

On November 14, the Supermoon can be seen. On this day, in case of clear weather, the moon will be the biggest for the whole 2016.
