Rustem Khamitov: "Corruption pushes our country back"

UFA, 8 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On November 7, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov chaired a meeting of the commission on coordinating anti-corruption activity in the region.
“I should say that cases of corruption among public officials are not widespread now. However, for the first nine months 126 people were brought to disciplinary responsibility, three were dismissed. Of the more than 13 thousand people - it's just a fraction of a percent”, said Rustem Khamitov. “In addition, this year the number of corruption-related crimes declined by 3.2 percent - 692 against 715. Bribery cases were registered by 10 percent less. This positive trend to some extent confirms the success of the measures taken in the republic, including in part of ideological, propaganda, educational activity.
However, the Head of the Republic noted that “corruption pushes our country back. Corruption impedes entrepreneurship, worsens the business environment in our country. We must fight this evil tirelessly”, the Head of the Region stressed.
The meeting discussed such issues as organization of work on anti-corruption education and training, formation of social intolerance to corruption, anti-corruption expertise of regulatory legal acts of the republican governmental authorities.
In particular, the head of Press and Mass Media Agency RB Boris Melkoedov touched on the issue of anti-corruption propaganda in the republican media. According to him, a consistent problem of the media is binding to an event, without giving an integral view of the fighting corruption problem. Sometimes separate corruption investigations get unwanted resonance factitiously. Thus the number of analytical materials on the subject is very small.
